Greene Ministries June Update

Debbie and I are so glad for your partnership with us. We could not do what we do without our partners. We want to share with you the latest news. We are seeing God move with various partnerships to address the needs of the Cuban church.

There are many developments in Cuba.  We were at Pinar del Rio Seminary in January and early February. That’s where church planters come from all over the country to be equipped. Pastor R spent a week teaching the pastors and planters the Book of Romans and  then Debbie and R did a marriage seminar on the weekend. We gave the pastors plenty of truth to share with their people and the couples plenty of principles to apply in their marriages.

Cuba, because of its outdated and insufficient power supply, often experiences power outages. While we were there, lights would go out for part of the day, making teaching even more challenging. One of our partners, James and Elizabeth Schaefer and the Waldorf Grace church just sent $5,000 to the Seminary to cover the cost of solar panels. The sun shines in Cuba about 300 days a year and should supply the renewable energy the seminary needs to function. This should be a huge blessing.

The president of the Seminary, Boris Sarlabous, shared with us his vision of giving his teaching staff doctoral graduate training. We are currently working on a partnership with Grace Seminary (the school Debbie, James and I graduated from) and the Pinar del Rio Seminary. I (and others) will offer courses to take his staff to the next level. There are 22 professors there; most of whom have undergraduate and some graduate training. We are hoping to have this in place by this fall. It is highly unlikely that any of them will be able to travel to the States for advanced training; it still remains possible to come to them. So God willing, we will go.

On January 29, 2026, another one of our partners, Daniel Sandoval, president of the Spanish World Gospel Mission and leaders from Winona Lake Grace, are planning to go to Moa, Cuba. It is very near Guantanamo Bay on the eastern side of the island. We have been invited to join the team. The topics being covered in the seminars will be marriage enrichment and lay counseling.

We will teach and encourage the 21 church planters who have gone out of the church of Moa (Lead Pastor is Estephan). The people sometimes walk eight to ten miles on Sundays to church. This church is making a huge difference for the sake of the Gospel. There are 2000 people attending the mother church with 93 small groups. Greene Ministries would like to support 10 of these church plants. It will cost us $300 to sponsor each church plant for a year. Please prayerfully consider a one-time donation to help plant 10 of these churches. You can do this directly at https://newhorizonsfoundation.com/project/single-project/2997/

On a personal level, the doctors are narrowing down what could be causing such intense hip pain for Pastor R. They are convinced that it isn’t the hip; instead it is lower back compression on a nerve. An MRI of the lower spine is scheduled for June 9. R is confident that God will heal him; he just does not know when. He is trusting the Lord. Keep praying that we get an accurate diagnosis and path toward healing.

All marriage conferences and retreats were moved to late summer and fall. We are continuing to work with couples to strengthen their marriages, to prepare for marriage and to support leaders who are discipling couples.

We thank you for your prayers and continued personal financial support. If you would like to join in financially supporting us please go to: https://newhorizonsfoundation.com/project/single-project/2727/

Thank you to those who regularly give to our ministry. Your sacrifice has made it possible for us to continue reaching and planting seeds of hope.

Yours and His,

Pastor R and Debbie Greene
